In the 16th century, there was a raid on a settlement where the Native Americans killed all of the white settlers, but spared the slaves and integrated them into their society. Has anything similar happened in Rome or other slave societies?

Prince John of England had learning difficulties and was epileptic. He lived on a farm with his nanny and had normal friends. In that era in England what would the outcome of children of various socioeconomic classes have been? Meaning a child of a lord, a middle class child, a poor child, etc.
